DRAFT VERSION - Updated March 13, 2004

The next three major assignments are intended to be used together.

• An Illustration assignment worth 15% of your final grade
• A Photo-montage, colourization assignment worth 15% of your final grade
• A CD Package that will include both of those elements
• Since they are intended to be integrated, they will be chosen to complement each other

ILLUSTRATION 15%
The Illustration will be based on a photographic image/composite with the inclusion of some additional items.
I am specifically looking for images with the same level of complexity as the Maine fishing shack photograph at http://hurmuses.com/education/tracing.pdf . If you use a composite, it must be complete when presented on March 12.The following are requirements of the assignment.
• CMYK
• A custom gradient
• A blend used as a gradient
• A layered stroke (refer to the examples on the Strokes Dash handout from the beginning of the semester).
• Objects will be grouped appropriately
• Illustrations will be locked
• Layers will be named
• Layers will be nested as appropriate
• Crop marks
• Text that has been transformed into outlines and integrated with the illustration
(see the examples at: http://hurmuses.com/education/MansiBCalender.jpg and http://hurmuses.com/education/simonHCalender.jpg you can link to them from my illustrator samples page)
• Illustrator Files must be saved in Version 10 or earlier
• Text in Illustrator will be outlined
• Image traced must be on a separate layer from the tracing
• Sublayers will be used

PHOTO_MONTAGE 15%
• The montage will be a composite photograph of the band with at least 3 source images used. One source image will be black and white and colourized to blend with the others. Realism will be the objective with respect to the colourization.
• The composite should include an absurd or surreal situation, with the objective being to be sufficiently well presented not to be questioned at first glance.
